  The location
Latour de france is an ancient fortified village with approximately 1200 inhabitants. It is in the Fenouillèdes area of the Roussillon, very close to the Corbières and the Cathar Castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse.
By walking in the old village, near the castle, if you are lucky, you can see the peacock who took residence in it.
Latour de France is 20 minutes from Perpignan and the airport, 40 minutes from the beaches of the Mediterranean and 1 hour from the Pyrenees.
The whole surrounding area has loads of interesting places to visit: the village of Tautavel and its museum of Prehistory are 10 minutes away, the impressive "Gorges de Galamus" and the amazing rock formations at Ille-sur-têt are both 30 minutes away.
You can make a one day journey to Carcassonne, and, why not, a two-way trip to Barcelona, which will give you, an overview of the wealths of this city.
Walkers have a huge choice of marked paths to discover in a wonderful lanscape, accompagnied by the smell of wild thyme, rosemary and mint. There are plenty of places around Latour de France to swim in the Agly River. Or for the more adventurous, there's white water rafting nearby and climbing at the "Via Ferrata" in St Paul de Fenouillet (20 minutes from Latour de France).
For Wine lovers, the region offers a huge variety of wines from the sweet forfified "Vin doux" of Maury, Rivesaltes and Banyuls, the wonderful" Côtes de Roussillon" reds and the refreshing local Rosé, best enjoyed chilled on a warm summers evening.

Latour de france is a picturesque, quiet village where you can find all the useful services: bakery, grocer's shop, newsagent/tobacconist, chemist, post office, restaurant, doctors, etc.
You can also have a drink or eat some "tapas" at the "Trobada", a very nice musical bar in Latour, and enjoy there a few concerts in the summertime.
